2026 WCQ: Lesotho coach Notsi reveals what Chelle told him after Super Eagles’ victory

Lesotho head coach Leslie Notsi has revealed what Nigeria coach Eric Chelle told him following Super Eagles’ win over the Crocodiles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday in Polokwane, South Africa.

Recall that the first half ended in a 0-0 draw as second-half goals William Troost-Ekong and Akor Adams gave Nigeria a 2-1 victory against Benin Republic.

However, in his post-match interview after the game, Notsi mentioned that Chelle informed him that Lesotho has a strong, competitive, and disciplined team.

“He [Chelle] mentioned after the game that we have got a good team, a very competitive and disciplined side tactically,” Notsi told reporters after the game.

“It’s something we have to embrace and be humbled by, especially coming from a big team like Nigeria, a team that has qualified for the World Cup.

“For a coach to say that about Lesotho means a lot to us. It is something I am going to share with the players, and we have to stay level-headed but put even more effort into our work.”
