2026 World Cup: NFF confident Super Eagles will secure intercontinental play-off spot


The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has expressed strong confidence that the Super Eagles will claim Africa’s ticket in the Intercontinental Play-Off for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Gusau said that both the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the NFF are working tirelessly to ensure the three-time African champions are fully prepared for the crucial encounters against Gabon on Thursday, November 13, and potentially Cameroon or DR Congo in the final on Sunday, November 16.

“Everything is being done by the NSC and the NFF to ensure nothing is left to chance,” Gusau assured.

“That fighting spirit that saw the team score the four goals they needed against Benin Republic to reach the play-offs will drive them to victory again.”

The NFF boss confirmed that the Super Eagles’ training camp will open in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday, November 9, with players already contacted and aligned with the team’s objectives.

“Every preparation needed to see the team soar will be made,” Gusau added. “The players are motivated by the dream every professional footballer shares, to play at the World Cup.”

The Super Eagles will face Gabon at either the El-Barid Stadium or the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, both in Rabat.

The final of the CAF Play-Offs will be held at the Stade Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan.
