The candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Mr Olajide Esan, has advocated a system of government where the power of decision-making rests with the people.

Esan said leaders should be subservient to the citizens in terms of governance in a state and not the other way round.

The 39-year-old politician made these remarks at the Arise TV Osun 2026 Governorship Townhall held on Tuesday at the Aurora Events Center, Osogbo.

According to Esan, the state has not achieved its full potentials because politicians have been taking advantage of the crises created by past misgovernance.

He said real growth and development would continue to elude the state and the country until the people became the main focus of state administration, adding that youth empowerment and accountability would be priority policies of his administration if elected governor on August 15, 2026.
