I technically resigned from Buhari’s govt as minister – Rotimi Amaechi
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, has disclosed how he technically resigned from the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari before the end of its tenure.
Amaechi revealed that his decision to further his education made him go to the office just once in a week, stressing that he “technically resigned.”
The former governor of Rivers State was the Minister of Transportation under Buhari from November 2015 to May 2022.
Amaechi, who served as Minister for two terms resigned in May 2022 to contest the presidential primary election under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In an interview with AIT on Wednesday night, Amaechi revealed how he requested permission to embark on studies and Buhari accepted.
Amaechi said: “The next day, I went back to Mr President and asked, “Can I go to the university? He said, ‘Yes.’
“Then I applied. In the application, I said I wouldn’t be in the office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, that’s technically resigning from the government. The only day I came to the office was Wednesdays.”
