PDP opens talks with INEC over missing candidates

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resolve the omission of some of its governorship candidates from the commission’s final list for the 2027 elections.
The list, released on Saturday, did not include any PDP governorship candidate in Ogun and Gombe states, despite featuring 13 candidates in Ogun and 16 in Gombe.
Among those affected are Ladi Adebutu, the party’s candidate in Ogun, and Isa Ali Pantami, its candidate in Gombe.
In a statement, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said the party was treating the development with the seriousness it deserved.
He said the party was seeking an amicable resolution with INEC in accordance with the law and established electoral guidelines.
Mohammed urged the affected candidates, party members and supporters to remain calm and patient while discussions with the electoral commission continued
