NSCDC gets new commandant in Akwa Ibom

Mr Jonathan Olariche has assumed duty as the 18th State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Akwa Ibom State Command.

Olariche, whose last place of assignment was the NSCDC Zonal Command Headquarters in Awka, urged officers and men of the command to rededicate themselves to delivering on the corps’ mandate by showing commitment to duty.

The commandant, in his maiden briefing to NSCDC personnel at the command’s headquarters in Uyo on Monday, vowed to protect critical government infrastructure, lives and property of residents.

Olariche, who titled his speech “Dawn of a New Paradigm,” said he would operate on a three-point agenda of leadership development, core mandate advancement, and capacity building and empowerment.

He solicited the cooperation of officers and men of the command to ensure the command achieves the three-point agenda and moves the corps forward.

“To my respected officers and men of the Akwa Ibom State Command, let me be clear: the achievement of this agenda requires an immediate and total shift in mindset.

“We cannot expect new results with old habits. I call on every officer, from the senior management down to the latest recruit, to embrace a spirit of discipline, dedication, and professional renewal.

“Align your attitude with this new paradigm. Let professionalism be your identity, promptness your tradition, and integrity your signature. This Command has a zero-tolerance policy on failure,” Olariche said.

The new commandant vowed to clamp down on perpetrators of crime, oil thieves, vandals targeting critical national assets and infrastructure, and criminal elements operating in the state.

Olariche appealed to the people of Akwa Ibom for maximum support and cooperation with the command by sharing information about criminals and criminal activities to ensure a safer society.

He said, “Security is a collective responsibility. Our doors are ever open for constructive collaboration, intelligence sharing, and mutual respect.”
