NWSL: Monday bids farewell to Washington Spirit after Boston Legacy transfer
Super Falcons forward, Gift Monday has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Washington Spirit following her permanent transfer to fellow National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Boston Legacy.
Boston Legacy completed the signing of the 24-year-old earlier this month, reportedly paying €500,000 to bring the Nigerian international to the club.
Following her departure, Monday took to Instagram to reflect on her time at Washington Spirit, sharing an emotional message thanking the club for the memories and support she received during her stay.
“Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when the memories mean so much. I’m leaving with a grateful heart, beautiful memories, and a little sadness that words cannot explain,” she wrote.
Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spanish club UD Tenerife in 2025 and went on to make a significant contribution to the team.
The Nigerian striker recorded 12 goals and three assists in 48 regular-season appearances for the club.
