“He said I’m shallow, but I hold degrees in Law and Literature, Master’s degrees in both fields, and a certificate from the University of London. I also have a master’s degree from King’s College London, and I’m pursuing a master’s degree in Global Political Economy. Tell him to show his certificate if he has any,” Amaechi said.
Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has challenged Senator Adams Oshiomhole to publicly present his academic certificates following the former Edo State governor’s criticism of his political credibility.
Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election, issued the challenge during an interview on Rapid TV, where he responded to Oshiomhole’s description of him as “shallow” and “unreliable”.
Defending his educational background, Amaechi listed several academic qualifications and questioned Oshiomhole’s credentials.
The exchange followed Oshiomhole’s appearance on TVC, during which he accused Amaechi of political inconsistency.
Oshiomhole had questioned why the former Rivers governor was now criticising President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he previously supported.
He also accused Amaechi of reversing his position on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, recalling that Amaechi had challenged Atiku’s emergence as a presidential candidate before eventually becoming his running mate.
Responding, Amaechi expressed disappointment at the remarks, arguing that he and Oshiomhole were political equals who served as state governors during the same period.
He further alleged that Oshiomhole remained bitter over his removal as APC national chairman.
Amaechi claimed he led the group responsible for Oshiomhole’s removal from the position and insisted that he had no regrets about his role.
The exchange highlights renewed tensions between the two former governors as political alignments continue to shift ahead of the 2027 general election.
