Sarkodie added that he started rapping in English but switched to his native Twi because he feels superior rapping in his local dialect.

Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie has spoken up on his language and cultural identity, revealing why he does not like rapping in English.

The artist, while speaking in a recent episode of The Fuse, explained that he always feels inferior whenever he raps in English.

Sarkodie added that he started rapping in English but switched to his native Twi because he feels superior rapping in his local dialect.

“Rapping in Twi is my superpower. I express myself way better in my mother’s tongue. The emotions I want to put out come out best when I rap in my native language. I started rapping in English but felt like I was beneath someone when I rap in English. But when I rap in Twi, I feel equal to any other rapper in the world,” he explained.
