BATMEDICS, a medical intervention initiative founded by Barrister Seyi Tinubu, has unveiled a nationwide healthcare programme with two distinct targets: free medical outreaches for three million indigent Nigerians, and specialist surgical procedures for a separate 6,000 beneficiaries.
The nationwide outreaches will provide free medical services, including surgeries, to people in need. Separately, BATMEDICS will establish specialist surgical camps in eight tertiary hospitals across the six geopolitical zones, where 6,000 people are expected to receive procedures for various complex conditions.
The selected hospitals to host the surgical camps are the National Hospital, Abuja; University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu; Lagos University Teaching Hospital; Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano; Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi; University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital; Federal Medical Centre, Asaba; and University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City.
The specialist procedures will include complex operations such as open-heart and renal surgeries, alongside other critical interventions undertaken by medical specialists at the designated hospitals.
The programme is designed to expand access to healthcare, ease the financial burden of medical expenses on vulnerable households and help more Nigerians receive essential and life-saving care.
The initiative reflects Barr. Seyi Tinubu’s commitment to supporting efforts to improve healthcare access, particularly for people who face financial barriers to treatment.
By working with established tertiary hospitals and their medical teams, BATMEDICS aims to deliver medical and surgical services to vulnerable Nigerians across the country.
Petra Akinti Onyegbule, the organization’s Director, Research, Media and Communication in a statement explained that further details on the implementation schedule, services, eligibility criteria, and access arrangements will be shared through BATMEDICS’ official communication channels as preparations progress.
BATMEDICS also urged Nigerians to follow its verified platforms for updates on the nationwide intervention.
