Why I won’t remove my breast implants despite mould poisoning – Jenny McCarthy

American actress and television personality Jenny McCarthy has rejected calls to remove her breast implants despite battling a prolonged illness she says was caused by mould and mycotoxin poisoning.
The 53-year-old entertainer defended her decision during the November 3 episode of The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show, revealing that she was unwilling to undergo implant removal despite concerns raised by fans about her health.
McCarthy disclosed that several people had questioned whether her implants could be contributing to the illness, which she said had severely affected her health over the past two years.
During a conversation with celebrity plastic surgeon Dr Terry Dubrow, she sought clarification on whether mould-related illness could affect breast implants.
Dubrow, who has performed several cosmetic procedures on the actress since the early 2000s, said he had never encountered such a case throughout his career.
Reassured by his response, McCarthy maintained that she had no immediate plans to remove the implants.
The actress acknowledged the apparent contradiction between her concerns about toxic substances and her decision to retain the implants.
However, she explained that she had already undergone breast reduction procedures and was not prepared to make another major change to her appearance.
“Maybe someday, when I’m an old lady, I will want to be a free bird,” she said.
“But in this time of having to be in these dresses and stuff like that, I went down dramatically, much smaller than I used to be. But I am not ready.”
The controversy follows McCarthy’s recent disclosure that she had been living in a tent while struggling with fears about further mould exposure.
Speaking during the October 28 episode of her podcast, the former *Masked Singer* judge recounted how a persistent toothache in October 2024 marked the beginning of a prolonged medical ordeal.
According to her, the condition failed to respond to painkillers, leading to several dental procedures, tooth extractions and consultations with specialists.
She said her health subsequently deteriorated, with unexplained growths, infections and other symptoms that left doctors searching for answers.
McCarthy disclosed that she was eventually diagnosed with mould and mycotoxin poisoning in December 2025.
She claimed the illness had affected her immune system and left her increasingly fearful of possible environmental exposure.
“At one point, you know, I was just so desperate to heal that I literally was living in a tent,” she recalled.
Despite the ordeal and criticism of her decision to retain her breast implants, McCarthy insisted she was not emotionally ready to have them removed.
Dubrow’s remarks concerned his own clinical experience and did not establish that breast implants are universally free of medical risks.
