Governor’s wife presents gifts to first baby delivered at UNIOSUN’s Alakija Hospital

The wife of the Osun State Governor, Chief (Mrs) Ngozi Adeleke, has presented gifts to the first baby delivered at the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital (MOFAMRTH), Osun State University (UNIOSUN), in a gesture underscoring the importance of maternal and child healthcare.

The baby was delivered on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the university’s specialised medical facility, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s delivery of maternal and child healthcare services.

According to a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, Mrs Adeleke was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, Innovation and Partnerships), Professor Adetunji Lawrence Kehinde. Other principal officers of the university and the Acting Medical Research Director of MOFAMRTH, Professor Christopher Alebiosu, were also present.

During the visit, Mrs Adeleke met with the baby’s mother, Ms. Ayelabola Abigail, congratulated her on the arrival of her newborn and presented gifts to the family as a gesture of goodwill and support.

She also expressed appreciation to Apostle (Dr) Modupe Folorunso Alakija and the Osun State Government for their contributions to the establishment and development of the hospital.

As part of the visit, Mrs Adeleke toured the hospital’s facilities and received a briefing on its operations, clinical services and role in medical research and professional training.

The hospital, a specialised facility of Osun State University, integrates clinical care, medical research and the training of healthcare professionals. Its operations reflect the university’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, advancing medical knowledge and developing the skilled workforce required to improve health outcomes.

The milestone further highlights the hospital’s role in expanding access to specialised healthcare services in Osun State, particularly in maternal and child health, while supporting the state government’s broader efforts to improve healthcare delivery through institutional partnerships and investment in medical infrastructure.
