The star-studded encounter will take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, bringing together former internationals whose performances helped shape African football and earned the continent recognition on the global stage.

Nigeria will parade a strong contingent featuring several members of the country’s celebrated 1994 and 1996 generations. They include Daniel Amokachi, Finidi George, Mutiu Adepoju and Taribo West, alongside Okocha and Kanu.

They are expected to face an African selection featuring some of the continent’s biggest names, including Adebayor, Diouf, Ghanaian former captain Stephen Appiah and Cameroon’s Rigobert Song.

The reunion is expected to offer football enthusiasts an opportunity to relive memorable moments from an era when these stars entertained supporters with their skills, individual brilliance and remarkable contributions to their respective national teams.

Beyond the exhibition match, the organisers have lined up activities aimed at connecting the legends with the next generation of footballers.

A football development clinic will provide 500 young players with an opportunity to benefit from the experience and guidance of the former internationals. The programme will also feature entertainment and special recognition for the participating legends.

The event is organised by Toptier Sports Management in partnership with Afreximbank and CANEX as part of CANEX WKND 2026, a platform celebrating African creativity, culture and talent.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5pm on Sunday, November 8, while spectators will be allowed into the arena from 1.30pm.

The Lagos reunion is expected to attract football fans from different generations, providing a platform to celebrate the enduring legacy of players who helped put African football on the international map.
