Your failures will send you packing in 2027 – Atiku tells Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has warned President Bola Tinubu that Nigerians will vote him out of office in 2027 over what he described as his administration’s failure to address the country’s economic and security challenges.

Atiku said Tinubu should focus on defending his record in office rather than attacking his investment in the American University of Nigeria, AUN, Yola.

The former vice president stated this in a response issued by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu on Saturday following Tinubu’s remarks about how Atiku funded the university while serving as vice president.

He said the investment in AUN and ABTI Academy started before he became vice president in 1999, noting that the foundation of the institution was laid in 1993.

“My investment in the university was a long-term project that started before I became vice president in 1999. It is therefore wrong to suggest that it was established with money I made while in office,” he said.

Atiku challenged Tinubu to explain his administration’s record, accusing it of worsening poverty, insecurity, unemployment and the cost-of-living crisis.

“Your failures will send you packing in 2027. Rather than attacking my investment in education, you should tell Nigerians what you have done to improve their lives,” he said.

Atiku urged Tinubu to address the concerns of Nigerians about the state of the country instead of making his private investment a subject of political attacks.
