I’m ready to testify as Nnamdi Kanu’s witness- MASSOB founder, Uwazurike

Founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Ralph Uwazurike, has expressed willingness to be part of the defence witness of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Uwazurike also expressed readiness to join any peaceful protest calling for Kanu’s release.

Kanu, who once served as Director of Media under Uwazurike in MASSOB before founding IPOB in London, has been in detention following his controversial rendition to Nigeria in 2021.

In a video message released on Wednesday, Uwazurike said Kanu’s detention was aimed at humiliating the Igbo race.

He said: “I have listened to the court appearance of Nnamdi Kanu today and the presentations made by his lawyers, i want to be part of any peaceful demonstrations in Abuja or anywhere in Nigeria for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

“I have personally reach out to Aloy Ejimakor, telling him that i want to be one of the defence witnesses to Nnamdi Kanu.

“Just last week, i reminded him of my desire to be the defence witness to Kanu, you can ask Ejimakor.

“So for this new development, I’m ready to go to Abuja or any part of Nigeria to be part of the demonstrations, provided it’s anchored on non-violence, if it will be a peaceful protest, I will be there.”

He also dismissed the terrorism charges levelled against the IPOB leader by the Nigerian government.

Uwazurike accused the Nigerian government of double standards

“There is thing like terrorism. when my men were being killed in the Southeast, were they terrorists? What did they do? When Ojukwu was declared to be arrested by DSS because he supported Uwazurike, he was given a one-way ticket, economy class to Abuja, what did he do? It was just to humiliate the Ndigbos by commanding our leader,” he said.
