Police arrest two over theft of telecom facility gas in Jigawa


Jigawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects, 40-year-old Naziru Sale and 36-year-old Hassan Adamu for allegedly stealing gas used to power an Airtel telecommunications antenna in Burmanawa village, Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen.

He said the suspects were apprehended on October 5 around 4:30 am following credible intelligence.

He said the suspects were caught with an unregistered dark-coloured Golf 2 Saloon car and 14 jerry cans suspected to have been used for stealing the gas from the telecom facility.

According to the statement, the duo have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse and would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State police command has also arrested one Muiziddeen Mohd for allegedly trespassing and stealing 23 doors from an uncompleted building in Sabon Takur Quarters, Dutse

The police explained that nineteen of the stolen doors were recovered near the suspect’s residence where they were hidden in a farmland.

Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining four doors and arrest possible accomplices.

SP Adam reiterated the command’s commitment to strengthening community partnerships in its fight against crime across Jigawa State.

State Police Commissioner, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the divisional officers for their professionalism and dedication.
