387 blocks of suspected cannabis found in vehicle after Bauchi road accident

The Bauchi State Police is investigating a motor accident that led to the discovery of 387 blocks of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.

The crash said to have occurred on October 4, 2025, around 11:30am at Wom Village in Toro Local Government Area.

The accident involved two Toyota Corollas, the first, a white Corolla with registration ABC-459LF, was carrying the District Head of Nabardo, Suleiman Bala Suleiman, 65, and his family from Bauchi Metro to Nabardo Village.

The vehicle was driven by Ali Muhammad, 45, a resident of Nabardo Village.

Eyewitnesses said the second vehicle, another white Corolla with registration GWA-155GW, was coming from Jos, Plateau State.

The driver, who is yet to be identified, reportedly tried to overtake other cars and collided head-on with the first vehicle.

Passengers from both cars suffered injuries and were taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.

The District Head fractured his left leg and is receiving treatment, while some others have been discharged.

A statement by the Spokesman of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil,P revealed that about 387 blocks of suspected cannabis were found in the damaged Corolla GWA-155GW.

Other items recovered include a black travel bag, two polyethene bags, a black Tecno phone without a SIM card, and vehicle documents. All items have been sent to the State Investigation Department (S.I.D.) for further analysis before the case is handed over to NDLEA.

Wakil further disclosed that the Command is looking for the unidentified driver and asked the public to provide information, adding that the Command is committed to maintaining peace and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate during investigation.
