Why Govt Should Support Content Creators – Nigerian Actor, Chinedu Ikedieze Speaks

Chinedu Ikedieze, the popular Nigerian actor, has highlighted the challenges of content creation, describing it as a demanding yet rapidly growing industry that deserves greater recognition.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, the actor, fondly known as Aki, spoke about the effort and creativity required to put out relatable online content.



“Content creation is a whole lot of work. That’s another industry on its own. You have to give kudos to everybody who is a content creator,” he said.

Ikedieze revealed that the process often robs him of sleep.

“Sometimes, I stay up till 3am editing my videos, especially the ones I need to post the following day. Even when you send it to an editor, it may not be ready on time, so I do it myself. It’s a whole lot,” he explained.

Comparing content creation with acting, the actor noted that it requires more spontaneity.

“For filmmaking, you prepare; you have a story. For content creation, you just wake up, an idea comes to your mind, you put it down, and that is it. Sometimes, my wife and I shoot content till 1 or 2 am,” he added.

Calling on government to support the sector, Ikedieze stressed that beyond being a source of livelihood for many, content creation contributes to the economy.

“The government should come into it and see what they can do to help them, because as much as they are making life easier for themselves by making money, they are also contributing to the economy,” he said.
