Two policemen injured as gunmen ambush patrol team in Benue
Two police officers were reportedly shot and injured following an ambush by unidentified gunmen along the Ogobia–Adoka Road in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to zagazola, which confirmed the development through reliable sources in a statement on Monday, the attack occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday.
The officers, identified as Insp. Amos Okoh and Insp. Joseph Adowebo, were said to be carrying out a routine patrol when the armed assailants opened fire on them.
Sources revealed that upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adoka swiftly deployed another patrol team to the scene.
The injured officers were rescued and taken to the Teaching Hospital in Otukpo, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
Reports indicate that both officers are responding positively to treatment.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command has initiated an extensive search for the attackers, vowing to bring them to justice.
The Command also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by sharing any information that could help in tracking down the culprits.
