Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca banned
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been banned and fined £8,000 for misconduct following his actions during Blues’ 2-1 Premier League win over Liverpool on October 4.
The Football Association confirmed that Maresca admitted to the charge of improper conduct after receiving two yellow cards, the first for protesting a penalty decision and the second for excessive celebration of Estevao Willian’s stoppage-time winner.

The Italian tactician will now be absent from the touchline when Chelsea travel to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday, with assistant coach Willy Caballero set to take charge from the sidelines.
Maresca’s exuberant celebration came after intense pressure on his side, who had suffered back-to-back defeats before the Liverpool clash.
The victory lifted Chelsea to sixth in the table at the time, easing pressure on the former Leicester City boss.
Speaking to Italian media, Maresca reportedly described his touchline sprint and celebration as “an instinctive reaction”, admitting that it was worth it despite the punishment.
This marks Maresca’s second touchline ban since taking charge at Stamford Bridge in June 2024. He previously served a suspension in April 2025 after collecting a third yellow card of the season for celebrating Pedro Neto’s late winner against Fulham.
Chelsea will be aiming to continue their recovery in Maresca’s absence when they take on Forest this weekend.
