NOA warns public against fraudsters impersonating Lanre Issa-Onilu, DG

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has cautioned Nigerians to beware of fraudsters impersonating Lanre Issa-Onilu, its director-general, on social media platforms.

In a notice issued via the agency’s official X handle, NOA disclosed that criminal elements have cloned the director-general’s social media identities, including WhatsApp and Facebook accounts, to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

According to the statement, the scammers have been using the fake accounts to lure victims into conversations, offering fictitious contracts and requesting money or other forms of financial assistance through the phone number 09066356599.

“The perpetrators have been luring victims from the accounts to this phone number, offering contracts, requesting for money, and other financial favours,” the agency said.

NOA described the act as criminal and urged Nigerians to exercise caution, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious contact linked to the cloned accounts.

“The public is hereby advised to report this account if contacted. The DG has no link to these scammers”, the agency stressed.

The agency further appealed to the public to help spread awareness about the fraudulent activity to prevent others from falling victim.
