Sowore meets Nnamdi Kanu as IPOB lawyer withdraws from trial (VIDEO)
Activist Omoyele Sowore, on Thursday, met with Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Sowore held the meeting with Kanu within the premises of the Abuja Federal High Court and disclosed this via a video posted on X.
During the meeting, Kanu hugged and greeted Sowore.
In a caption accompanying the video, Sowore wrote: “Finally, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and I met at the Federal High Court today. The man is powerful and unrelenting. We greeted and hugged and the bond is strong! #FreeNnamdiKanuNow.”
On Monday, Sowore had led Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and his brother, Prince Emmanuel, to a #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja.
The police dispersed the protest while arresting Ejimakor, Prince, and others. They were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kuje and remanded in Kuje prison.
Meanwhile, Kanu has indicated his intention to defend himself before the Justice James Omotosho-led court on charges bordering on terrorism. This follows the decision of his lead counsel, Kanu Agabi, to withdraw from the trial.
Kanu has been detained since 2021, when he was rearrested in Kenya and subjected to extraordinary rendition back to Nigeria.
