Benue: Shock in Otukpo as mutilated body of young girl discovered near rice mill

Residents of Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue State have been left in deep shock and sorrow following the discovery of the lifeless body of a young girl inside a culvert near the Otukpo Rice Mill area.

Daily Post gathered that the decomposing remains, believed to have been dumped several days earlier, were found with some organs reportedly missing, fuelling suspicion of a possible ritual killing.

A resident and citizen journalist known as Ebony Naija, who was at the scene, described the situation as “horrific and unhealthy.”

“This particular corpse has been lying here for some time, maybe about five days,” he said. “I spoke with the DPO and they have sent an officer.

“I also called the local government chairman, who dispatched the supervisory council on health to the scene. But the corpse is still here, and the smell is terrible. It’s not healthy at all.”

He added that the body was found in front of the Otukpo Rice Mill and that residents were living in fear as the identity of the victim remains unknown.

As of the time of filing this report, no arrests had been made, and the police were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
