Commotion As Bulldozers Raze Houses In Oworonshoki At Night In Lagos (Video)
Residents of Oworonshoki in Lagos State were awakened to a chaotic development recently.
In the early hours of Saturday, bulldozers moved into the Ojileru and Coker areas of Oworonshoki, Lagos, to demolish structures erected along waterways, as part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to prevent flooding.
The late-night razing surprised many residents, sparking distressful videos of the demolitions and ensuing protests that blocked machinery and resulted in clashes with security personnel.
While the government said 79 property owners have been compensated through the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency, local victims’ groups argue the payments are inadequate and that many residents have yet to receive any compensation at all.
