Teenager drowns in Kano pond
A 14-year-old boy, identified as Sulaiman Nura Ado, has drowned in a pond, popularly known as Ruwan Promise, in Kano State.
According to a statement issued by the Kano State Fire Service on Sunday, the incident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. on October 25, 2025, and was reported by one Ghali Isah Muhd.
The statement, signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said a rescue team from the State Fire Service Headquarters immediately rushed to the scene under the supervision of the Director, Alhaji Sani Anas.
The team successfully pulled the boy out of the water but found him unconscious. He was later confirmed dead and his body was handed over to Police Constable Mubarak Ishak of the Rijiyar Zaki Police Division.
The Fire Service expressed condolences to the family and appealed to parents and guardians to keep children away from ponds used for local swimming, warning that such unsafe practices could lead to tragic deaths.
