‘Brilliant, amazing’ – Paul Scholes names two midfielders better than Rice, Caicedo

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has named the two midfielders better than Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo.

Paul Scholes said the two midfielders, Rice and Caicedo are not his type of players.

Rice and Caicedo are widely regarded as two of the best midfield players in the Premier League at the moment.

Rice joined Arsenal from West Ham United for £105million, while Caicedo moved from Brighton to Stamford Bridge for a £115million fee.

Despite their terrific form for Arsenal and Chelsea respectively this season, Scholes does not name the pair in his top five midfielders.

Scholes says he values a midfielder who does a bit of everything and has a more ‘progressive’, controlling presence.

For him, Portugal and PSG midfielder, Vitinha and Liverpool man, Alexis Mac Allister are better options.

“I get slagged off because I did a top five the other week and I don’t put people like Caicedo or Rice because I like a different type of midfielder,” Scholes told The Overlap.

“Vitihna at PSG is brilliant, he is amazing. I thought Mac Allister at Liverpool last year was brilliant, I know he hasn’t started that great this season.

“But I like that more controlling midfielder who can do a bit of everything, not just a defensive one who might score the odd goal. I like the more progressive type.

“Rice isn’t my type of midfielder…”.
