Tunji-Ojo orders urgent fix as paramilitary recruitment portal crashes

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, minister of Interior, has directed the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) to expedite and conclude the ongoing upload of applicant information in the recruitment exercise for Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies.

The minister’s directive comes amid growing frustration among applicants who have been unable to track their recruitment status weeks after completing various stages of the process.

Many reported being locked out of the system or unable to confirm whether their applications were successfully processed.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Friday, Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the challenges facing the recruitment portal and assured applicants that the delays were being addressed.

“Following recent complaints from applicants into the paramilitary agencies who are still unable to determine their fate due to the ongoing upload of information,

“I have directed the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board to ensure that all uploads are completed immediately,” the minister stated.

The CDCFIB had earlier announced on Thursday that applicants could begin checking their recruitment status from Friday.

Some said the website repeatedly failed to load after login, while others discovered that their dashboards displayed job categories different from those they had applied for.

Several applicants also claimed that their names were missing entirely from the system.

The Interior Ministry has reassured the public that the issue was primarily due to the ongoing upload of a massive volume of data.

The recruitment exercise attracted about 1.9 million applications for roughly 30,000 available positions across the four paramilitary agencies, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Meanwhile, the Board has urged Nigerians to be wary of fake recruitment messages and unauthorised websites claiming to offer employment slots in any of the services.

It stressed that all authentic updates will be shared only through official government channels and the CDCFIB portal.
