Insecurity still tool for political oppression in Anambra – Analyst

Research Analyst, Centre for Democracy and Development, Dengiyefa Angalapu, has said that insecurity is still a tool for political oppression in Anambra State.

Angalapu made the statement on Thursday while speaking in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

He stated that the issue of insecurity remains a concern, stressing that as there are still flashpoints that can be exploited to oppress political opponents.

“Insecurity is still a tool for political oppression in Anambra State. Right from all of the elections we have seen, we have very evidence that money money politics is going to play a very big role and of course the security agencies especially the anti-graft agencies need to belt up their efforts it does not disrupt the process because people told us that money will play a very important role in the election.

“Anambra is the first state where IReV and BVAS were deployed on a large scale, and we hope to see Anambra the state that was once a pacesetter rebuild trust in democratic institutions as we approach the 2027 general elections.

“But one important thing again is how the Anambra election gives a picture of functions of political parties in Nigeria. I think that’s a very important point that we need to interrogate,” he said.
