Ten Hag set for sensational return to Ajax
Ajax are reportedly exploring a sensational reunion with former manager Erik ten Hag following the dismissal of John Heitinga after a poor start to the season.
According to Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad, Ajax technical director Alex Kroes recently met with Ten Hag at his home for an extended discussion about a potential return.

While the meeting was described as a casual “coffee talk,” it has fueled strong speculation that the Amsterdam giants want their former boss back in charge.
Heitinga’s side managed just five wins, five draws, and five defeats, conceding 28 goals in 15 matches. A run of four consecutive Champions League losses, including a 3-0 defeat to Galatasaray on Wednesday, left Ajax bottom of the League Phase with zero points and a goal difference of -12.
Ten Hag, who led Ajax to three Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups, and a Champions League semi-final between 2018 and 2022, remains a highly popular figure among fans. After a short stint at Bayer Leverkusen, he is now available and reportedly open to a second round of talks with Ajax.
Reports suggest Ajax face competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are also interested in appointing the 55-year-old Dutchman. However, Kroes is hopeful that Ten Hag’s strong ties to the club and his desire to rebuild Ajax’s legacy could convince him to return to Amsterdam.
