Nnamdi Kanu pushes DSS official in court as date for final verdict nears

A video has emerged showing Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the banned separatist group IPOB, in a tense confrontation with Department of State Services (DSS) personnel in court.

In the footage, Kanu, visibly angry, could be heard saying, “You have no law, you have no law,” accusing the DSS officer of trying to enforce a law he does not respect.

Following the court session, Hon. Obi Aguocha, member of the House of Representatives for Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency, described the proceedings as biased.

He said, “I have always said it, in Nigeria, there appear to be two sets of rules, one for the Igbo man, and one for other Nigerians.”

The Federal High Court in Abuja has now scheduled November 20 for judgment in Kanu’s terrorism trial.

Justice James Omotosho set the date after Kanu failed to open his defence, despite being given six days by the court to present it.

The judge explained that since Kanu did not utilise the opportunity granted to him, he cannot claim to have been denied his constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair hearing.
