EPL table: Arsenal go 7 points clear at top despite 2-2 draw with Sunderland

Arsenal dropped points for only the third time this season after being held to a 2-2 draw at Sunderland.

The Gunners travelled to the Stadium of Light knowing that a win would widen the gap at the top ahead of Manchester City’s game against Liverpool tomorrow.

However, it was the hosts who took the lead, with former Arsenal defender Daniel Ballard ending their clean-sheet run with a vicious finish from a long ball.

Mikel Arteta’s men fought their way back in the second half, with Bukayo Saka pouncing on a defensive error to level the scores.

Arsenal then went ahead through a long-range strike from Leandro Trossard.

However, their winning run came to an end after Brian Brobbey volleyed in a late equaliser for Sunderland.

Arsenal now have 26 points, seven ahead of City and Sunderland.
