Anambra election: INEC completes 99.28% result upload as collation nears conclusion

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has achieved near-total upload of polling unit results from the Anambra State governorship election, marking a significant milestone in the collation process.

As of 11:06 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025, data from the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that 5,679 results had been successfully uploaded out of the 5,720 polling units across the state—representing 99.28 percent of total results expected.

The last recorded upload came from Polling Unit 04/04/07/011, indicating that real-time electronic transmission of results from polling stations to the central server had continued smoothly through the night.

Observers from Yiaga Africa and the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room also commended the speed and functionality of the BVAS devices used for voter accreditation and results transmission, though they urged INEC to ensure quick resolution of any remaining discrepancies before final declaration.

INEC had earlier confirmed a total of 2,802,790 registered voters for the 2025 governorship election, with 1,430,323 females and 1,372,467 males on the voters’ register.
The election, held under tight security and generally peaceful conditions, recorded pockets of logistical delays in the morning but improved significantly as polling progressed.

According to other media on ground, early uploads from various polling units suggested that major political parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and All Progressives Congress (APC), were performing strongly in their respective strongholds.

With result uploads almost complete, attention now shifts to the INEC State Collation Centre in Awka, where local government results are being verified and aggregated.

Once all results are confirmed, the Returning Officer for the election is expected to announce the final outcome and declare a winner in the early hours of Sunday.

Observers say the near-instant transmission of results has enhanced public confidence in the process, setting a benchmark for future elections.
