NNL: Why Mighty Jets lost to FC Basira – Dokubo

Mighty Jets technical adviser, Ere Dokubo has blamed early goals for his team’s defeat to FC Basira in the opening match of the 2025-26 Nigeria National League, NNL, season.

Abubakar Yusuf netted a brace in the first half for Basira FC before Peter Eneji added the third in the second half.

An own goal from Emmanuel Iliya gifted Mighty Jets the consolation in the game.

Dokubo said he was disappointed with the manner of the defeat at the Lafia City Stadium on Saturday.

“My hopes were shattered, We came with focus, hoping to take the maximum three points, but it didn’t work out. I’m disappointed, not just with the players, but with myself,” Dokubo reacted after the game.

“FC Basira’s goals were too quick and cheap. We were demoralized, and it affected our performance.

“They’re not better than Mighty Jets; they were just lucky to have won.”
