Abdulmumin Jibrin returns to APC, endorses Tinubu for 2027

Abdulmumin Jibrin, the member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), bringing an end to months of speculation surrounding his political direction.

Jibrin, a prominent ally of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso—the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)—announced his defection on Monday in his hometown of Kofa, located in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.

His move comes just two months after his expulsion from the NNPP over allegations of anti-party activities and failure to pay membership dues.

Addressing a large gathering of supporters, Jibrin pledged his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and publicly endorsed him for a second term in 2027.

“In a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano,” he said. “The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term in office.”

He also revealed that more than 2,000 Islamic clerics attended the event, offering special prayers for the president as well as for peace, unity, and development in Kiru/Bebeji, Kano State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Jibrin, who previously served as Director-General of the Tinubu Support Groups, left the APC for the NNPP in 2022 and played a significant role in mobilising support for Kwankwaso’s presidential bid.

Political analysts view his return to the APC as a substantial boost for the ruling party’s strength in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections.
