Anambra Guber: Voting begins in Awka, but low turnout clouds election
Voting has started in several poliing stations in Awka South Local Government Area.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deployed men and materials as early as 7am. However, the electoral officers are waiting for voters.
BusinessDay visited Ward 6, Awka 2, which is at Udeozo Memorial Primary School III, with three polling units – 03, 17 and 18. Our team found that electorial officers are on ground with materials, but no voter was seen, indicating that the election may be marred by voter aparty.
Young boys of voting age were seen playing football at the school’s football pitch.
