Arsenal go three points clear at the top after win over Fulham

Arsenal have opened a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Fulham.

The Gunners went into the international break only one point ahead of champions Liverpool and had the chance to extend their advantage at Craven Cottage in Saturday’s late kick-off, especially after Manchester City beat Everton 2-0 to go top earlier in the day.

Although Arsenal dominated much of the game, they failed to go into the break ahead of their hosts.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Gabriel Magalhães headed Bukayo Saka’s corner into the path of Leandro Trossard, who had the simple task of tapping it into the net.

A penalty awarded to Saka was later overturned, but Arsenal held on to secure the win and now sit on 19 points, three clear of City.

Mikel Arteta’s men are four points ahead of Liverpool, who host Manchester United tomorrow.
