BAOSA targets infrastructure devt of Alma mater with N1B funds

…honours alumni for excellence in service

Determined to transform the physical and technological infrastructures of their Alma mater, Baptist Academy Old Students Association (BAOSA) has kick-started plans to raise N1 billion.

According to the Association, the launch of a N1 billion BAOSA Infrastructure Development Fund (BIDF), aimed at transformative projects within the school, as Alumni class sets have already commenced impactful initiatives, including renovations, scholarship programmes, and new facilities.

Olumide Ajomale, President of the Association, said the fund is to ensure that the right infrastructure is put in place so that every student who receives education from an academy like their Alma mater would be equipped to go into the world and compete effectively.

Speaking at the 2025 Alumni Awards and reunion dinner in Lagos, Ajomale called for all stakeholders to recommit to the school’s core values of Christian discipline, academic excellence, and service.

He paid tribute to the BAOSA leadership, planning committee, and various partners who are helping bring the anniversary vision to life, affirming that Baptist Academy lives on through the lives it continues to shape.

The colourful event crowned a three-month calendar of activities marking the 170th Founders’ Day Anniversary of Baptist Academy, one of Nigeria’s oldest and most enduring educational institutions.

The evening brought together alumni from across the world and from every generation spanning the 1950s through the 2000s in an atmosphere of nostalgia, camaraderie, and renewed commitment to the Academy’s timeless values of faith, character, and learning.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Wale Abiru, Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria; Kazeem Alogba, Chief Judge of Lagos State; Tokunbo Abiru, chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions; Shuaheeb Olabode Agoro, Head of Service, Lagos State; Toyin Ashiru, Pro-Chancellor, Olabisi Onabanjo University; Tony Akiotu, former group managing director, DAAR Communications Plc.; and Israel Kristilere, senior pastor, Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro.

In their welcome remarks, Oyeyemi Onifade, chair of the Planning Committee, commended members for their continued dedication to the school’s legacy.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of order of Excellence to old students for their professional achievements and societal impact.
