Benue varsity joins ASUU strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, Benue State, has joined the warning strike embarked upon by the union.

The ASUU chairman of the university, Dr Terseer Abari, who made this known to newsmen on Monday, said the chapter had complied with the directive.

“We have complied with the national directive. So we are on strike as we speak,” he said.

He stated that the warning strike had affected examinations in the institution.

According to him, the majority of the students had completed their examinations, but those still writing would have to suspend them until after the strike.

“A good number of our students are done with their exams except those in the Veterinary College who are left with one or two papers.

“But as we proceed on the strike, every other thing will cease. When we come back, they will round it off. Ninety-five per cent of our students have finished their exams. If you go to our campus, you will not see anybody except those doing their projects. So these ones will go home and come back after the strike,” he added.
