Bundesliga: Werder Bremen coach Steffen calls out Victor Boniface
Werder Bremen head coach, Horst Steffen has called out striker Victor Boniface after he failed to score a goal in the club’s Bundesliga 1-1 draw against Mainz on Saturday.
Steffen insisted that the Nigerian international should have done better against Mainz at Mewa Arena.
Boniface struggled to influence the game as he recorded no goals, no assists and no shots on target.
He failed to impress during the encounter, leaving Steffen unsatisfied with his performance against the hosts.
“He [Boniface] tried to hold onto the ball up front,” Steffen was quoted by Bild as saying after the game.
“Today I thought to myself: Come on, he can do even better.”
Boniface will now hope to lead Werder Bremen to victory when they face Wolfsburg in their next game on Friday.
