Court Remands School Teacher For Allegedly Beating Young Man to D3ath in Ondo


 

A 51-year-old teacher, Gbogidi Ojo Williams has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court.

 

The Ondo State Police Command arraigned him for allegedly k!lling one Abayomi Olamitoke by beating him to d3ath.

 

According to the police prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, the defendant, alongside others at large, on  September 16, 2025, at about 2:30 p.m. at Akunmi Quarters, Akungba-Akoko, conspired to commit felony to wit: m8rder. 

 

The charge reads: “That you, Gbogidi Ojo Williams ‘m’, and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did beat one Abayomi Olamitoke ‘m’ to d3ath.”

 

Oniyere said the offence contravenes Sections 324 and 316, and is punishable under Section 319 of the Ondo State Criminal Code.

 

The court did not take Williams’s plea.

 

The prosecutor asked for his remand pending  advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

 

Defence counsel, Benjamin Adeyanju, sought an adjournment to file a counter-affidavit.

 

Magistrate Odenusi-Fadeyi Olateju ordered Williams’s remand at the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and adjourned the case to October 7 for further hearing.
