Abuja-based law firm, Law Corridor, has urged the Federal Government to engage in constructive diplomatic talks with the United States to ease rising tension between President Bola Tinubu’s administration and that of US President Donald Trump.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the firm noted that the US designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) carries “potential reputational and economic implications” for the country. The statement was jointly signed by the Managing Partner, Henry Eni-Otu; Deputy Managing Partner, Ajibola Bello; and Senior Partner, Pelumi Olajengbesi.
The firm warned that the designation could affect Nigerian businesses, stating: “Nigeria’s private sector, from multinationals to SMEs, may also face increased risk scrutiny, trade challenges, supply-chain restrictions, and compliance exposure.”
It therefore called for immediate diplomatic action to prevent a deterioration in international commercial relations.

“Law Corridor aligns with all lawful and peaceful efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria, diplomatic stakeholders, and civil society actors to engage constructively with the United States, correct any inaccurate perceptions, demonstrate Nigeria’s commitment to human rights, and strengthen national security responses within the confines of the Nigerian Constitution and international law,” the statement said.
The firm also condemned the killing of innocent Nigerians by violent groups and urged the government and the military to adopt more effective strategies to end the attacks. It emphasised that protecting lives and property remains the primary responsibility of the state.
Law Corridor further called for principled diplomacy, mutual respect and constructive partnership with the United States in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, while insisting that the country’s sovereignty and adherence to international law must remain uncompromised.
