El Clásico: What Alonso said about Vinicius’ angry reaction after being substituted
Real Madrid head coach, Xabi Alonso has commented on winger Vinicius’ angry reaction after being substituted during the win over Barcelona.
Alonso watched as Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.
The Spaniard opted to replace Vinicius with Rodrygo when the score line was 2-1 at 72 minutes.
However, Vinicius did not hide how fuming he was to be taken off, blanking Alonso and then raging on the bench before going down the tunnel while the game was still on.
Asked about the Brazilian’s angry reaction, Alonso said at his post-match interview after the game: “I don’t want to lose focus on what is important.
“These are things that we will talk about. Within the great game that he has been in, Vini has also contributed a lot.
“Within the squad, there are different personalities. Now we will enjoy and, in due course, we [Alonso and Vinicius] will talk in the dressing room.”
