EPL: Gerrard names Liverpool’s two most important players
Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard has named Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah as the club’s most important players.
The Englishman spoke after Liverpool defeated Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Recall that two goals from Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch gave Arne Slot’s side the victory against Aston Villa at Anfield.
“Most importantly, the two most important players in Liverpool’s squad – Van Dijk and Salah – are both back smiling,” Gerrard told TNT Sports.
“Van Dijk is smiling because of the clean sheet and how the team defended tonight. And the star man, Salah, scored the goal, and he’s smiling.
“Them two are key for this team moving forward. We put it on them before the game that they had to be the ones to step forward, and they’ve both stepped forward.”
Liverpool will now face Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
