Fashion meets film: AFRIFF 2025 premieres in style

The 14th edition of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) kicked off with a bang, and it wasn’t just the films that stole the show – the fashion was also on point!

The red carpet was abuzz with A-list celebrities, industry heavyweights, and cultural icons, all dressed to impress in their finest attire. From elegant gowns to dashing suits, the fashion at AFRIFF 2025 was a true reflection of African style and creativity.

The likes of Osas Ighodaro, Rita Dominic, and Waje were spotted looking stunning in their designer outfits, showcasing the best of Nigerian fashion.

The men weren’t left out either, with actors like Kunle Remi and Segun Arinze rocking stylish suits that would put even the most seasoned fashionistas to shame. The overall effect was a kaleidoscope of colors, patterns, and textures that had everyone in attendance talking.

But it wasn’t just the celebrities who brought the fashion heat – the event itself was a masterclass in style.

The film screening center was transformed into a veritable catwalk, with attendees showcasing their personal style in a sea of gorgeous dresses and suits.

From classy to elegant, and from traditional Nigerian attire to modern designer wear, the fashion on display was truly breathtaking.

One of the highlights of the evening was the tribute to the late Herbert Wigwe, which featured a poignant presentation of the Herbert Wigwe Award for Excellence.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries and industry players, all dressed in their finest attire. The Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, was also in attendance, and presented a beautiful framed art portrait to Chioma Ude, AFRIFF’s Founder and CEO.

The real showstopper, however, was the film “3 Cold Dishes,” which premiered at the event. Directed by Asurf Oluseyi and co-executive produced by Burna Boy and Osas Ighodaro, the film tells a powerful story of three women who survive human trafficking and exact justice.

The film’s costumes were a standout, showcasing the best of African fashion and textiles.

As the festival continues to run its course, from November 2 to 8, 2025, fashion enthusiasts will be treated to a visual feast of African style and creativity.

With its unique blend of traditional and modern elements, AFRIFF 2025 is shaping up to be a must-attend event for anyone who loves fashion, film, or African culture.
