FCT road infrastructure will boost Abuja economy – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, said ongoing road projects being executed by his administration would improve the economy of the nation’s capital.

The minister spoke during the flagging off ceremony of the construction of Collector Road CN2 (Emmanuel I. Ogala Street) from Arterial N16 (Yemi Osinbajo way) to N20 (Wole Soyinka way) including road ILS 5 within Katampe District.

He said: “Today, we also had to flag off another very important project that will lead to the opening up of the Gishiri area.

“Recall that sometimes in June this year, the President came and commissioned that interchange and dualization of road that leads to Girishi.

“It will be more meaningful if we try to link up this, and I told the company CGC that they must do everything possible, even without the contact awarded.

“And we should go ahead, and to the glory of God, they went ahead.

“I want to commend CGC for what they are doing, for the confidence in the government of Mr President knowing fully well that it is for the interest of the people, residents, and for our economic interest as well in Abuja.

“I can imagine when this road is completed and inaugurated in the third year of Mr President, look at the properties here and what will happen.

“I’m sure somebody’s property in the area will be like, something has to be done. If the property here was N200, N300 million, in the next one month, they will go to N700 million to N1 billion.

“That’s what good administration is, that’s the whole essence of making the economy thrive.”
