Gunmen kill one, injure three in attack on Plateau farmers
One person has been killed and three others injured after suspected Fulani militias attacked Kopmur village in the Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The incident, which occurred around 4:00 p.m. on October 22, began when the armed attackers stormed a house where some local farmers had taken shelter and opened fire.
The victims have been identified as Dashan Mwanar, 42, who died on the spot, and three others — Sonma Mwanar, 32, Kyenkyes Dakup, 26, and Joy Vumshak, 25 — who sustained various injuries.
Police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bokkos Division responded swiftly, rescuing the injured victims and taking them to the hospital for treatment.
According to the Plateau State Police Command, the deceased’s body has been handed over to his family for burial after they declined an autopsy.
Police say investigations are ongoing, with intensified efforts to arrest those behind the attack and prevent further violence in the area.
