‘I don’t know what’s pursuing second term governor’ – Senator Dickson on Diri’s APC move
Senator Seriake Dickson has criticised Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri’s decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to him, there was no reason for a second-term governor like Diri to join APC.
While asserting that Diri’s defection was unwarranted, the former Bayelsa Governor pledged to remain with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Governor Douye Diri resigned from PDP on Wednesday.
He later announced that he was joining the ruling APC alongside 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
This comes barely 24 hours after the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, also joined the ruling party.
“Everyone is rushing to the ruling party; you don’t even know what is pushing them or what they are pursuing,” Seriake Dickson said in a viral post on X on Wednesday.
“The governor consulted me several times, and I was not convinced because I didn’t see any compelling reason for a second-term governor to defect.”
