I Requested Tinubu to Pardon My Daughter-In-Law, Maryam Sanda – Bilyaminu’s Father

Ahmed Bello, father of the late Bilyaminu Bello has opened up that he personally begged President Bola Tinubu to grant a presidential pardon to his daughter-in-law, Maryam Sanda.
Recall that Sanda was convicted of murdering his son in 2017
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday during a joint interview with Maryam’s father, Garba Sanda, Bello said his appeal was made on humanitarian grounds, citing concern for his two grandchildren.
He explained that executing Maryam would not bring back his son but would instead leave the children without both parents.
“As a Muslim, I accepted the incident as the will of Allah. I have forgiven Maryam for what happened,” he stated. “Before the trial ended, I appealed to both the police and the court to drop the case because I didn’t want my grandchildren to lose their mother after losing their father.”
Responding to reports that some family members were against the pardon, Bello said everyone was entitled to their opinion but insisted that he had genuinely forgiven Maryam.
On his part, Garba Sanda expressed deep gratitude to Bello and his family for their compassion and forgiveness, describing it as a rare act of faith and humanity.
“Words cannot express how grateful we are for this gesture of mercy and reconciliation. We pray for continued healing for both families and that the children grow up surrounded by love and peace,” he said.
Both families reaffirmed their commitment to forgiveness and unity, pledging to raise the late Bilyaminu’s children together in an atmosphere of peace and love.
President Bola Tinubu had recently approved Maryam Sanda’s presidential pardon after she spent over six years behind bars.
