Jigawa targets defaulters in sanitation crackdown

The Jigawa State Government has announced its plans to
Sanction Ministries, Agencies and Industries Neglecting Sanitation Duties.

This was contained in a press statement signed by Information Officer Babura and Garki Local Government Areas Suleman Daudu issued to newsmen.

He said the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environmental Matters, Abdullahi Abba Jahun, disclosed this during the committee’s inspection visit to Babura and Garki Local Government Areas.

He said the Environmental Sanitation Committee has concluded all its plans to begin imposing fines on all government and private ministries, agencies, and industries found guilty of neglecting environmental sanitation responsibilities.

He explained that the committee’s tour was aimed at assessing the level of progress made during the last monthly environmental sanitation exercise, as well as motivating local leaders and stakeholders to sustain the program.

Abdullahi Abba reaffirmed the state government’s determination to strengthen environmental protection initiatives as part of its broader effort to safeguard public health and ensure cleaner communities.

He also urged community-based organizations and youth groups to actively support and participate in sanitation activities for the progress of their communities.

During the visit, the committee inspected hospitals, boarding schools, abattoirs, markets, and other public places to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
