Kajuru communities condemn fresh attack in Southern Kaduna

The Kauru Local Government Community Development Associations, CDAs, Forum, has strongly condemned the attack that occurred last Friday, in Damakasuwa community, Chawai Chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, which led to the killing of seven people.

A statement issued by Dr. Billy Ishaya Laah, chairman and Daniel Danau, spokesman said, “The attack, which resulted in the death of seven people and injury to one, is a disturbing reminder of the insecurity that has plagued our communities.”

The forum noted with dismay that the attack occurred despite the presence of security agencies, including the military and Mobile Police (MOPOL), in the area, saying that it raises serious concern and questions about the effectiveness of the security measures and the need for a more robust response to these threats.

They noted that the attack has caused fear and panic among residents, urging the people to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book, while praying for those injured.

According to the statement, “The people of Kauru Local Government Area are known for their peaceful coexistence, and it is disheartening to see our communities being torn apart by these senseless acts of violence.

“We appeal to the Kaduna State Government and security operatives to intensify patrols and surveillance to prevent further attacks.”

The statement also called on the government to take concrete actions to address the root causes of the insecurity in the area, including poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to basic amenities.
